Who ever that travels by buss in NYC is very familiar with the China Town Buses leaving from downtown NYC to DC, Philly, Atlanta etc, for a very low cost.
I recently decided to surprise my boyfriend to a nice weekend in DC for his 30th birthday, where he can do what he loves the most, take pictures.
The cost of a round trip to DC for two people cost $70.00 (Very much worth it, no matter how crazy the bus ride was). But on the way back we ended up having fuel filter problems, with panicking tourists on the bus who decided to call 911, since our bus was only traveling five miles per hour on the highway on its way back into the city.
Our great New York passengers where not that tolerant either. One passenger yelled from the back of the bus "Motha F***ng, Are we gone get to F***ng Manhattan or what?"
The only person i really felt bad for was our 65 year old driver who tried to keep everybody calm and kept in touch with the company to see what steps to take next.
We made a pit stop in Trenton, NJ where many of the passangers dined at Iron Skillet, a great little shack in the middle of nowhere, filled with truckers.
Although our trip back took ten hours instead of five, we ended up having a great weekend.
A nice getaway for less than $300.00 including hotel from Expedia.com and the round trip bus ride.
