A day out in the rain!

A couple of days ago I decided to go to see the movie "Orphan" all by my self to conquer my fear of scary movies. I loved the movie and I loved how I was capable of watching the whole thing without really jumping out of my chair. After the movies I walked to the new Barnes and Nobles on 86 St. As I took the escalator down I could still smell the fresh coat of paint on the walls. As I walked pass the Junior's section I was bombarded Twilight madness. They had lunch boxes, key chains, calendars and all available titles by the author. It was sort of the gothic part of Barnes and Nobles, decorated in black, red and white. Passing by the biography section, I found myself parked right in front of a title with a picture of the late Walter Cronkite, a man, who's skills and work left imprints in the world of journalism that we know of today. Towards the far back of the store where I came a cross a man who stood out in the crowd as he was sitting down with his Sony headphones reading a graphic novel. He was wearing a military green washed out, button down shirt. His grey afro was uneven as he held his head down humming to the music that was playing in his head phones and all of a sudden he coughed, as if he had been a smoker for all his life, not looking a day older than 50. I have never seen the Travel section so empty around this time of year. However there was a couple, a man and a woman. I noticed how the man was gently caressing his lady as if he was trying to keep her warm from the cold AC in the store. By the Cafeteria, a young lady was standing by the condiments, debating between brown sugar and Splenda. Lucky her she chose the brown sugar. A few steps away I overheard a well equipped lady officer ordering a Venti Caramel Latte with extra Caramel, as she was glancing at the big 32" Sharp flat screen. The new store is decorated with a few of these big flat screen monitors all the way from the entrance down to the music section. The customer service was a little to much for me, everyone was really joyful and offered their help in every department. I guess since they closed down two other Barnes and Nobles within a block apart in order to open this new one, the staff are being appreciative that they got to keep their position. Finally upon exiting the building through the revolving doors, the security guard wished me a pleasant and as I exited the building I was welcomed by the heavy thunder storms outside. That was my day out in the rain.

Well,

I have to say I enjoyed reading your post love. You capture the stores essence. I could almost here the War vet humming his toons. Good one!
