General Assembly of the United Nations: Safest Week in NYC with Major Political Visitors

As crazy as this city gets with the massive amount of people that live here and the additional visitors that come to the city, I can honestly say that there is something that I call the safest week city in NYC. This week is when the General Assembly takes place at the United Nations, when all the presidents and prime ministers and anyone who has any political influence comes to attend this annual meeting. The amount of police, secret service and armed forces that secure the midtown east area of NYC is something out of this world, as traffic is stopped, people are being told to get back in their work spaces due to the fact that President Obama is coming into town. He usually stays at the Waldorf Astoria which is about a block away from my job and through out his stay as well as other major officials, this part of town is under tight surveillance.

I had the opportunity to welcome some of these political visitors and their guests to our restaurant Pescatore Restaurant which is located in the heart of Mid Town East. Yesterday we had the Prime Minister of Japan, Yukio Hatoyama who just recently got elected to office on September 16th, 2009.

I'm not going to lie. as annoying as it can get with major road blocks and rush hours, it is one of the most exciting weeks in NYC.
