A snowy day in Harlem: Would you or wouldn't you?

It has been snowing all day long in New York City. In Harlem people are shoveling snow left and right. Neighbors are helping each other out by pouring salt to prevent people from slipping on the ground. I was standing outside to get some fresh air when I saw a lady from the next door come out and start to shovel the snow in front of her building. You could tell she was struggling to maintain her balance in her high heel boots. For each shovel you could her grasp for air. A few minutes later a gentleman came up to her and asked her if she needed help. She took one look at him and said: "No"! The gentleman continued to explain to her that his services are free and that he is just helping people shovel their snow so the older people in the neighborhood and children don't slip and fall on the snow. She seemed annoyed with what he was telling her. She replied back: "No, thank you I am OK!" He then continued to the next person and asked if they needed some help. The other lady, an older lady, looked at him and said "sure, your help is much appreciated". The gentleman started shoveling the snow for the older lady as he noticed the younger lady with the high heel boots looking at him. Once he was done helping the older lady, he went back to the younger lady and asked her again: "Are you sure you don't need my help"? The young lady turned to him and finally said: "I sure could use the help"!

Now my question to you is, would you have accepted his help from the get go when he explained that his services are for free or would you have still denied his help? I would appreciate if you could evaluate your answer.
